A default folder is where your new designs go when you create one without choosing a place. With none set, they land in My Work. Your default is your own: teammates choose theirs. The liveworkspace index keeps it for your account or guest identity, so it follows you to any browser, and it files each new design by it.
Setting a default from a folder
Open a folder's menu (its ⋯ button, or right-click the folder) and choose Use as Default for…. Under New designs that open as, tick Designs. The default points at one folder, so ticking it here moves it from wherever it was; unticking it sends new designs back to My Work.
My Work has the same menu: a ticked entry there means new designs land in My Work. Choosing it when unticked clears your default folder.
You can use a team's folders too, as long as you are a member of the team. A team's own top level cannot be a default: create inside the team to put a design there.
Seeing your default
Your default folder shows a small mark after its name, in the sidebar, the Explorer's lists and cards, and the editor's Explorer panel. Hover it to read "Default folder for new designs".
When you create a design
New Design never asks where a design goes: it is filed in your default folder, or in My Work when you have none.
- Starting from inside a folder or a team keeps you there: that folder wins over your default.
- To file one design somewhere else, use Change Folder on it afterwards.
- While you try things out as a guest, new designs are saved in this browser instead (Offline Mode), so they have no folder until you move them to your account.
In Settings
Settings > Designs > Default Folders (Where New Designs Go) shows the folder new designs go to, or My Work. Change picks a folder; Clear sends new designs back to My Work.
If your default folder has been deleted, or belongs to a team you have left, the row says "A folder you can no longer reach, using My Work", and new designs go to My Work. Deleting a folder that is your default warns you first.
Defaults only decide where a new design starts. Moving a design later, or changing a default, never moves designs you already have.
